"Something New"/S8E24

I love discussions on TV shows. However, I've always felt inclined towards shows that have an average viewers average. Not to show my high calibration, but because they don't become too involved with the filling of boisterous plots scattered in a season. They follow what seems to be a chronological order, and they do so while keeping the audience captivated. The reason I felt season 8 would be a leap was because of the premiere. They leaped from Ted meeti...

HIMYM has never given up on the flickering flame of Ted and Robin. This is the second time they put them in a situation where they feel together. This flickering flame is always re-ignited when possible, and then goes back to its weak state. Robin digging in Central Park does not seem realistic, but it happened nevertheless. She calls not only her fiancee but also her father, who are bonding very well this week, to come and help her find the necklace which...

HIMYM has been adapted to keeping a track of each continuity detail. Each flashback not only gives us a little piece of information, but also stays consistent with the circumstances at the given time. Tonight felt like one of those episodes where we don't have to scrutinize, but actually openly view a 20 minute act, which included a bit of a coincidencidental play.

The entire sequence spread out as a one-plot episode with a

I praise the writers of HIMYM on several occasions, but this time, I would like to register a complaint concerning the content of this episode. As we all know, there are only a handfull of episodes left for HIMYM before its grand finale next ...

There was some connection in this episode. A new, telepathic, sweet and deep connection. As Ted's solitude gets the better of him, he starts to envision what seems to be almost 75% of the episode. Tonight, Ted was just center stage with no exception. It felt like rekindling a relationship while it still needs the time to find its way there.

I felt that HIMYM was going to lose it this season. After all, the starting did ...

I've adapted to the mid-season hiatuses of every show. The months of March and April rarely have anything new on TV, as each show juggles with its timings to get the best ratings. One of the best antagonistic shows would be HIMYM and TBBT, both of which run on CBS. TBBT just recently terminated the two-week run, and will continue once HIMYM is done with theirs. However, this juggling does bring out the best episodes of the season...

"Weekend At Barney's"/S8E18

Carter Bays and Craig Thomas have always been presented with a problem with Barney. The breakout character of a show usually has quirky habits, comic moments, and his/her profound moments. The two-dimensional characterization usually has to be accompanied by a scrutinized continuity and classic comedy. So, when the episode unfolded with the “Weekend at Bernie’s” homage, I knew it was going to have a Barney-connected theme so...

This awkward week did commence in a traumatic way: I had decided to shut The DR Club down. It was a result of depression and many other non-monetary constraints. As if I were that asinine that I would proceed with it, I posted my mini-letter for y'all. It hurt a lot to have been so morose and yet unable to know the ruse one is playing on you. I may have even formed an emotional attachment with writing, and if I would leave it, I would be left agonized in ...

I've always had some intuition about HIMYM. Recently, I had succumbed into their various episode titles and synopses and realized that all this writing has definitely made my eye jaundiced. Moreover, this eye never seems to enjoy HIMYM's fantasy moments, when it goes ahead in the future too often and become monotonous. In a certain way, I appreciate HIMYM's ability to not get acceded into the hoary storytelling of love and dating which most sitcoms now be...

As you may have read, the 1st half was used as a premise and was quite lengthy. However, this second part should be much easier to digest. Firstly, let's talk about the theme of tonight's "P....

There are various multitudes of bigotry in the world at large. The most faddish may be based upon race, country or even religion. An example of the latter occurred just yesterday as we were discussing about interest on a deposit. Endowing with what I heeded, interest is a sin for a certain religion. At the moment all the parties to the discussion started making a unanimous uprival against the head, she blurted out a wrathful bunch of words: "I'm not here ...

This week's Monday Blues were at their peeks, thus starting a week that might as well be long. However, maybe the Monday Blues disappered once I heard this, and maybe they won't come back, "I am not here to put you to bed. If I wanted to, I would come to your houses at night, tuck you in bed, and sing to you."  Although I gave a laugh, I was thinking something else in my mind: I really want it. Turns out I'm not the only one whose persistent with the...

Originally titled "The Silence Of The Jinx" and "The Robin", these two episodes play a key role in the plot development this season and transforming Barney into Robin's fiance. Most of the season has been in shambles, but here are the two episodes which remind us why HIMYM has been so successful in any risk and trick which they try.

I kept on thinking on how Barney would muster up his courage into proposing to Robin and givin...

In Biology, we learn that our body is a delicate mixture and that everything needs to function properly to give us proper health. Such interdependence is also one of the reasons why TV shows rarely mix their ideas, plots and emotions correctly. For example, tonight's HIMYM. Theirs was the concept of an over-correction and the emotions that we all like, but there was a dragging and silly plot that just pulls the episode's grade down. However, small ...

What do you really want in life? A string of one-night stands, a commited relationship or a single life for the rest of your life. Maybe it's time to realize that the party can't go on forever, and settling down is the right choice. However, never forget, that you have your gang with you. Isn't that what Barney is going...

"A little ways down the road..."

How long have we heard that? It's been 2 years and still it seems vague, yet at the same time, clear, that changes don't usually take forever, but they don't take a second either. How does it imply to this case? Well, Brad turning from evil to good and from bro to enemy and back to bro took a night. However, he did say that Marshall should, and will, become a judge for his integr...

Complex and structured storylines have always been HIMYM's "thing". They've got a sort of storytelling that shows us emotions, comedy and last, but not least, guest stars. This week, they've given us two: Joe Manganiello and Joe Lo Trugio. The result: a half-hour which will lead us to an intense half-hour next week. This week, it was all about stamps, have you made any recommendations to others? Significant or Insignificant, you've got your own personal s...

It's Diwali today, so I would like to take moment here to wish all my fellow Indians Happy Diwali. I hope your crackers are bursting, fuljadis are burning, and hope you've all got your gifts. Moreover, let's not forget those Dairy Milk bars which help us gain a few pounds as well. True joy, true festivity, all in light. Moreover, Robin and Patrice have their BFF "Diwali" day as well.

I am a sort of sucker for classic moments where ...

It's good to have HIMYM back, right? While HIMYM took a break, I was wondering why there were a few problems in the last two or three episodes of the season. I came up with three hypothesis: i) The marking of the endpoint of the series ii) The love-friendship complications iii) The problem of execution of well-planned stories. Finally, I came to a conclusion that it was (iii), especially in the 2nd and 4th episode of the season. The titles gave away the e...

It's been a long time since time since HIMYM premiered: they're in their eighth season now. They have shown us one of the most natural developments of the characters, from wedding jitters to babies and frustration. However, in these seven years, I have only seldom felt the show being unnatural or pretencious. Well, I would add the game as an element that should never be repeated, unless it's like "Game Night", when Marshgammon's each step brought problems...
